Started this image earlier last year but i had to put it to one side after moving to a new job and country
Anyway ive finally found enough free time to get it done.
I wanted the image to have an etherial look to it so i spent a lot of time working out the most appropriate light to create that mood. i had originally tried simply using a single light source behind the character but the image became quite dark and gloomy, so i ended up adding a second infront of her.
The original resolution is 4000 by 4000 pixels so i was able to cram a lot of detail into the jelly fish, which are amazing creatures to paint!

A full resolution close up of some jellyfish

hey guys, long time no post.
ive been commisioned to create 12 pieces of work for a record company in the UK, they are wanting to use my Silent Silhouette image http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/4405722/ for the front cover of the Album and so needed an image that was connected to it for the back cover, this is what ive created
apart from some of the brick work and 2 buildings on the waters edge the rest of the image is painted from scratch without refs.
hope you like it
>> Hi resolution image <<
I had this idea in my head for a while before i decided to bring it to life. i liked the idea of someone slowly passing through a section of gravity defying water with fish falling through also...yes very strange, but i knew it could also be quite beautiful.
Apart from the hand (which are refed from my own) the rest of the image is made up and painted from scratch. Water is a brilliant thing to paint once you get the hang of it
and of course theres no background because it never needed one
Prints of this are now available here

as for the whole tie thing....well the poor junk-bot just wants to fit in and look as smart as the rest of man kind
i really didnt want much colour in this at all so that the tie could stand out amonst the dark chest area.
also didnt work too much on the background, wanted more focus on the character.
ok enough ranting

Fightstar Album Artwork

hey guys, not posted anything for a little while due to a contract ive been working on for UK band Fightstar. And yes this is my first ever "art dump"
The covers for the main Album is my "silent silhouette" image i did a couple of years ago ( although i adjusted and improved it for the standard square cover format) link : http://www.deviantart.com/view/4405722/
First onto a couple of Single covers ive done for them which had to be themed around my original image.
The first single cover

These 11 images are to be used in the album booklet, i had just 28 days in which to create them all....!!!! generally i would spend all that time on a single image, so in order to speed up the process i did some matte painting on a few which i felt quite bad about because i enjoy knowing that the images i make are 100% me. Anyway i got over that slight emotional hurdle and got them done as fast as possible. thankfully i was able to squeeze enough time together in order to create some without any matte :green:
this section is for none matte illustrations.

and now for the Matte images.

id love to go into what aspects of each image is matte or painting.. but it would bore the hell out of you all... so i wont :P
